Indigenous Research

In my travels, I look for any opportunity to engage in local arts or folk crafts that I could possibly draw upon in my Art classroom. In the summer of 2023, I traveled to a small mountain town in Mexico where I was given embroidery lessons by a woman whose work was to empower local Indigenous women of the Huastec community to develop useful skills that could be used to provide a source of income.
